Richardson Community HistoryRichardson was chartered in 1873. Originally, there were three businesses: a general store, a post office and a drug store. The once 50s and 60s bedroom community, no longer exists, but is now the heart of a significant employment center, over 80,000 people worked at the Telecom Corridor each day. Until 2006, the city had no sales of alchol and was known as a dry city. The Richardson school system is served by the Richardson Independent School District, except for the portion of the city in Collin County, which is served by the Plano Independent School District. Loacted at the intersection of Richardson, Dallas and Plano in the heart of the complex is the University of Texas at Dallas; the Telecom Corridor, an important multinational technology corporations. The Richardson Public Library is owned by the city of Richardson.
