Richardson is located in Dallas & Collin County, Texas.  Richardson is a clean and stable city with a progressive city government taking care of the desires and needs of its residents.  Many of the main roads come alive in the spring with beautiful wildflowers.  In 1966, Richardson was annexed because Buckingham was completely surrounded by Richardson.

Richardson Community History

Richardson was chartered in 1873.  Originally, there were three businesses: a general store, a post office and a drug store.  The once 50s and 60s bedroom community, no longer exists, but is now  the heart of a significant employment center, over 80,000 people worked at the Telecom Corridor each day. 

Until 2006, the city had no sales of alchol and was known as a dry city.   The sales of wine and beer came after an election of local option passed.

Education in Richardson

Richardson touts one of the best public school districts in the greater Dallas area.  The Richardson school system is served by the Richardson Independent School District, except for the portion of the city in Collin County, which is served by the Plano Independent School District.  The RISD has been recognized by the U.S. Department of Education, the American Federation of Teachers and the Institute for Responsive Education as one of the top 25 school districts in the United States. 

Loacted at the intersection of Richardson, Dallas and  Plano  in the heart of the complex is the University of Texas at Dallas; the Telecom Corridor, an important  multinational technology corporations.  The Richardson Public Library is owned by the city of Richardson.

Richardson Entertainment

Richardson proudly claims its own symphony orchestra and ballet group, as well as a children's theater and the Richardson Community band.  The northern parts of Texas get around 137 days of sun each year, which is perfect weather since most residents live within half a mile of one of 27 city parks.  Along with golf, tennis, pools and trails you can keep full at the local restaurants and hit all the hot shopping spots.
